Josef Erich Zawinul (July 7, 1932 – September 11, 2007) was a jazz keyboardist and composer. First coming to prominence with saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, Zawinul went on to play with trumpeter Miles Davis, and to become one of the earliest musicians to play jazz fusion, which blended jazz with rock and roll. Later, Zawinul co-founded the groups Weather Report and the world fusion music oriented Zawinul Syndicate. Additionally, he made pioneering use of electric piano and synthesizers. Zawinul won the "Best Keyboardist" award 30 times from American jazz magazine Down Beat's critics' poll. Several artists have honored Zawinul with songs, notably Brian Eno's instrumental "Zawinul/Lava", John McLaughlin's instrumental "Jozy", Warren Cuccurullo's "Hey Zawinul" and Biréli Lagrène's instrumental "Josef".

Louis de Funès becoming Hitler

Louis Germain David de Funès de Galarza (fyˈnɛs) (July 31, 1914 – January 27, 1983) was a French actor who is considered by many to be one of the giants of French comedy. His acting style is remembered for its high energy performance, a wide range of facial expressions and an engaging, snappy impatience.
He was enormously successful in several countries for many years — France, also Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Spain, Germany, Belgium, former Yugoslavia, The Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria, Lebanon, Israel, Turkey, Albania and the Soviet Union — but remained almost unknown in the English-speaking world. He was only noted in the United States in 1974 with the release of The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob. In a 1968 poll, he was voted France's favorite actor. [2] Many of his most successful films such as those in the Gendarme of Saint-Tropez series were pure slapstick, and although de Funès could play serious roles with a good deal of subtlety he was particularly known for his grimacing and outrageous facial contortions as he expressed anger, contempt, and astonishment. In a personal statement he claimed only to be interested in films that would draw an audience of 500,000 at least.

Mas que banjos y poesía cawboy, este año el festival de SLC tiene presencia internacional.

Kidjo was born in Ouidah, Benin. By the time she was six Kidjo was performing with her mother's theatre troupe, giving her an early appreciation for music and dance. Continuing political conflicts in Benin lead Kidjo to relocate to Paris around 1982. She started out as a backup singer in local bands, before establishing her own band, and by the end of the 1980s she had become one of the most popular live performers in Paris. She is married to musician and producer Jean Hebrail with whom she has daughter Naïma (born 1993), and is currently based in New York. Her musical influences include the Afropop, Caribbean zouk, Congolese rumba, jazz, gospel, and Latin styles; as well as her childhood idols Bella Bellow, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Miriam Makeba and Carlos Santana. She has made her own renditions of George Gershwin's Summertime, Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child, and The Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter. and has collaborated with the likes of Dave Matthews and the Dave Matthews Band, Kelly Price, Branford Marsalis, Robbie Nevil, Carlos Santana, and Cassandra Wilson. Kidjo's hits include the songs "Agolo", "Ayé", and "Batonga". Kidjo is fluent in Fon, French, Yoruba, and English and sings in all four languages and also her own personal language which includes words that serve as songtitles such as Batonga. Malaika is a song sung in Swahili language. She often utilizes Benin's traditional Zilin vocal technique and jazz vocalese.
In February of 2003, she performed a cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" at the famed Radio City Music Hall in New York City alongside Chicago blues guitar legend Buddy Guy and New York rock guitarist Vernon Reid (of Living Colour) in what would become part of Martin Scorsese's "Lightning In A Bottle: One Night In The History Of The Blues", a documentary about blues music that features live concert footage of other rock, rap, and blues greats.

El numero337 corresponde a un direccion de un edifico de mas de 100 años en esta ciudad.
Este viejo edificio esta para ser derribado en el verano, pero antes sus dueños decidieron convertir el lugar en una gran tela para pintar. La recepción fue fantástica y se presentaron mas de 100 artistas que compartieron mas de 40 habitaciones.

• Si los The Raconteurs fue un “capricho retro de amigotes” como diría una revista muy apreciada por nosotros, ahora si podremos hablar de un dinero bien gastado. El único inconveniente que tenemos, es que este CD no esta en venta hasta mediados de Junio. Si alguna vez fue posible reunir a Led Zeppelin con el particular sonido de Alice Coltrane en un mismo lugar, aquí los tienen!. Los “hermanitos” White, nuevamente nos sorprende con su música.
• Para saber donde estábamos en los anos 70(no solamente musicalmente), puedo decir que estábamos en una sala de clases de una pequeña ciudad y en un lejano país. No podría decir que estábamos poniedo atención al profesor... Estábamos en el ultimo banco de la sala comentando sobre "Tarkus" el segundo LP de Emerson Lake & Palmer. Cuantas nuevas ediciones hay? Ni idea, solo sé que estos “cats” y sus productores ya están gordos con tantas re-ediciones. “ Tarkus”, continua siendo una gran muestra de virtuosismo y de cómo se empujaban las barreras de Rock en esos años.
• Por ultimo y para refrescar el verano norteño y entibiar esos fríos corazones sureños, tenemos a la bella Bebel Gilberto en su “Momento”. Aquí los dejo entonces con estas tres nuevas recomendaciones, disfruten!
